Orion’s Pasture

Orion’s Pasture — original oil landscape painting inspired by Powell Butte Nature Park, with wildflowers arranged in the shape of Orion beneath a dramatic sky

Orion’s Pasture · Oil on canvas · 12” x 9” · 2026

The second of two smaller paintings based on photographs from Powell Butte Nature Park. The flowers are arranged loosely in the shape of Orion as it appears in the Pacific Northwest winter sky. Orion is my son’s middle name, and he loves watching Orion’s Belt appear outside his window each winter, so I wanted to bring that connection into the landscape and dedicate it to him.
